Hypnosis and The Common Mind?

When you really think about it, we wonder, is hypnosis really that great? I mean does it really work. There are those common hypnotists who work at fairs and make people cluck and cheep like chickens. But what is the scientific basis of this practise? Let’s find out
Scientists are now accepting the fact that hypnosis does work. They don’t really know how but it does. The hypnotist can put susceptible people under a trance like state where they are more receptive to suggestions. But again there is a difference here too. It seems that there is a specific type of person who is more susceptible. And if you are worried about someone reading your deepest darkest secrets; no need to worry anymore! According to researchers, even under a hypnotic trance, you will only tell the researcher what you want to tell them. There is an active barrier which we have subconsciously built in our minds to ensure that our deepest secrets are not releases unless we wish it.
But there is a fact under the hype that hypnosis can be used to control pain in medical procedures too. Recently there was a huge media issue of a dentist in London who carryout a painful dental procedure without the use of local anaesthetic. The patient was completely comfortable and he had absolutely no pain. The theory is that this same process of taking care of patients can be used to soothe those patients who are scared of medical and dental procedures and medical operative procedures.
